Op 17 juni 2010 oordeelde Apple dat de app bestemd was voor een te klein publiek. <\/p>\n
‘We’ve reviewed your application and have determined that this application is not appropriate for the App Store because it is intended for a limited audience. If you believe that you can add additional user functionality so that it can be accessible to a wider audience, we encourage you to do so and resubmit it for review.’<\/p>\n
We namen de afwijzing zeer serieus. Alsof ons advocatenleven ervan afhing, schreven we op 23 juni 2010 een pleidooi:<\/p>\n
‘The intended audience is not small.\u00a0This is not just a personal blog; IRMA app is a project, in the spirit of Michel de Montaigne, in wich Irma Driessen writes short personal essays, on a daily base.\u00a0Personal experience, observations, reflections on culture (books, movies, internet, art) and life in the digital age lead to thinking and writing.\u00a0Irma’s trying to build a body of work in the true nature of the meaning of the French word ‘Essais’ (= trying).\u00a0She now wants to take this to a next level by offering a mobile version. Irma Driessen would be very greatful if you would reconsider your decision and take the app back in review, considering this plead.’<\/p>\n

Op 12 mei 2017, zeven jaar minus \u00e9\u00e9n maand later, wijst Apple de app af omdat we een third-party platform noemen. <\/p>\n
Apple schrijft,<\/p>\n
‘We noticed that your app or its metadata includes irrelevant third-party platform information. Specifically, Android is mentioned in the App Description. Referencing third-party platforms in your app or its metadata is not permitted on the App Store unless there is specific interactive functionality.’<\/p>\n
Waarom mag dit niet?

Ik had eenvoudig een andere tekst moeten selecteren, eentje met de woorden ‘kat’, ‘neus’, ‘plant’ in plaats van ‘android’. Op een clubfoto van Ajax zwaai je niet met een Feyenoord-sjaaltje, kwestie van common sense, al gaat die vergelijking mank. <\/p>\n
Toch is in zeven jaar iets veranderd, merk ik.<\/p>\n
Nu ik doorkrijg dat een afwijzinging bijna nooit persoonlijk is, ga ik er meer en meer naar verlangen. Zeg nee tegen me. Wijs me af. Dat geeft inzicht in wat iemand belangrijk vindt. Een afwijzing onthult iemands waarden en voorwaarden. Een afwijzing is in die zin wel degelijk persoonlijk, alleen niet zoals ik altijd dacht. Goedkeuring leert veel minder. <\/p>\n
