– 90% van ons lichaam bestaat uit bacteriën (2-3 kg) en toch is modern leven steriel: Le Courbusier die ons vraagt onze handen te wassen voor we zijn kamers binnengaan

– experimenten worden uitgevoerd in steriele laboratoria, gesloten systemen. Hoe kun je in zulke situaties complexiteit bestuderen?

– systemen, wij dus ook, zijn dynamisch – constantly shifting, collapsing, transforming, therefore we should study relationships, processes, interfaces, environment instead of ‘the thing’.

How do we deal with change?
How do you value that?

– subjectiviteit is nodig om om complexiteit te bestuderen, iets is complex omdat je het niet tot losse delen kunt reduceren
